If you haven't heard of the Sugar Free Allstars yet, you will. Based in Oklahoma City, this duo plays kid-friendly "funky, organ-rock" that is hard to define but is strong in classic rock and early funk influences. Parents looking for music that bridges the gap between parent-friendly and child-friendly will appreciate the Allstars' musical approach. You can be assured that there are no bleeps in place of bad words in these songs, just good, clean, funky fun. The lyrics are contagious and humourous ("love my Poppy and Meemaw, they like cornbread and Hee Haw"), and the beats will keep you bouncing in your seat-or even better, get you up and dancing with your kids.
Find the latest CD, Dos Ninos online at SugarFreeAllstars.com, where you can also listen to the songs yourself. You may have heard the Allstars on XM Radio (XMKids, channel 116), where "Bathtub Boy", another title from the latest CD, is currently #2 on the charts. Locally, you can find Dos Ninos at the Full Circle Bookstore, The Learning Tree (Edmond and OKC), Guestroom Records (OKC and Norman), and Randy's M&M (Edmond). The Allstars also play regular dates around the Metro; dates are listed on their website.
